Why Alta? |
It seems like everyone is doing bike fits these days. What sets Charlie Merrill, MSPT at ALTA apart is that he looks at your body’s flexibility, strength, and posture, and considers those in the bike fitting process. He then makes exercise recommendations that will make your body more capable of cycling faster or without pain. Charlie worked in the bike industry for 12 years prior to becoming a PT. This combination of understanding the body and the bike gives you a bike fit unlike any other. In addition, Charlie has been racing bikes for 15 years and can advise you on training techniques, pedal stroke mechanics, and other gear to enhance your performance. |
What Is Involved In A Bike Fit? |
You bring your bike, shoes, cycling clothing, and any equipment you wish to change including seats, handlebars, stems, and pedals. I provide the stationary trainer so you can pedal in the clinic. After a 5minute warm-up and interview that allows me to see you ride and learn about your history and goals, I take a series of measurements from head to toe to determine what is causing your pain and/or limiting your power. After discussing the proposed changes, some changes are made in the clinic and some may be left for you to change at a future date. |
I will advise you specifically regarding any new parts (handlebar, seat, etc.) that may help you. Additionally, I provide you with suggestions on stretches, strength exercises, and pedal stroke drills that will improve how you fit on the bike and how you feel while riding. Last, you will get a report on the changes made and specific info on other changes or parts that we discussed. |
